Natural Light Portraits
Saturday 04 May
Beechwood - 3pm - 2 Hours
This meet-up will explore how we can take beautiful portraits using natural light and backgrounds. We will explore how to recognise flattering light and how to manipulate it whilst shooting in a less controlled environment than a studio. We will explore how we can work collaboratively with our subject to achieve a portrait that captures their personality and style. We will also look at posing and setting your subject at ease. Technical learning points will include accurate focusing and metering for skin tones. A model is present during the session.
We will have some discussion around the best settings , composition and ways to do this , especially in natural light. It would however be useful for you to ensure you are aware of the basics of using manual mode and the exposure triangle. If not sure, we would advise looking at YouTube for this before the photo session.
A male model will be available for this class.
Beginner's Photography Class

Ready to learn more about your camera and get out of automatic exposure? Now is your chance!
Join us as we break down your camera to help you learn about shutter speed, aperture, ISO and how these settings affect your exposure.
We will then put your new knowledge to the test with the guidance of a professional photographer.
We will look at learning the following :
- The exposure triangle and hue it impacts your photos
- White balance & it's importance
- Some basic camera settings to be aware of and set up.
- Different composition techniques
- Practice with use of manual, AV & TV modes.
Macro & Nature Photography

Ridgeway, Newport - 10am - 2 Hours
Macro photography is a unique form of photography that involves photographing small objects to make them look life-sized or more significant in the photo. The usual subjects include flowers and small insects, which we don't normally get to see up close with the naked eye.
We will look at how to take macro & nature photography. We will have some discussion around the best settings , composition and ways to do this.
It would however be useful for you to ensure you are aware of the basics of using manual mode and the exposure triangle. If not sure then we would advise looking at YouTube for this before the photo session.

A chance to practice taking pictures of families before you go to your own family. We will have a family model for us and you will be given a chance to learn about composition, posing, making the most of the light and what is around us along with the best settings to create a a nice portrait of your family.
WWC (Walk with Camera)

A relaxing walk with our cameras through nature, looking at a variety of different styles of photography such as nature, macro, portrait & landscape.
We will discuss & practice different compositions, how to get the most out of the light & what some of the best settings may be for dome of these areas.

Tintern - 10am - 3 Hours
Architectural photography can be a great way of exploring and documenting a city, whether it's your home or on holiday. Its about capturing not only the design and accurate representation of a building, but to have the shots be aesthetically pleasing to the viewer's eye. An architectural photographer makes pictures, not takes pictures.
In this session, we will be covering how to better understand Architecture photography and we'll be looking at ways to take some impressive shots and the camera settings to use.
The ticket price does not include the 8.70 entry fee to the venue.
